I was the other runner who got hit by that car in October of 1969. Tom and I were teammates on the cross country team. It was a Thursday night, steak night at coach Gibbard's house, and we were running back to the field house from Forest Acres golf course where we trained. We shared a hospital room after our surgeries for severed ACL's (not sure if he had surgery)but he was in a cast. I had not thought much about college life till recently when I was contacted about a book being written about the history of Michigan State cross country.
